Across SPC there are approximately 16 Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Advisers positions whose role it is to work within a SPC Division or project to ensure technical expertise and advice on gender equality, human rights, disability and social inclusion for SPC staff and member states.
This group of technical advisers can provide support for each other’s work, share tools and resources, and ensure there is a mutual understanding of GESI/GEDSI and how this relates to the implementation of the People Centred Approach, across all SPC work and within the workplace.
This learning event is an opportunity to bring together these advisors, many being newly recruited to SPC, to share experience and expertise and to network with each other as similar roles and responsibilities in their different sectors. This informal group has been meeting in the second half of 2024, and this 3-day learning event is an opportunity for a face-to-face meeting.
Some of these positions are co-funded through the Pacific Women Lead program, so this is also an opportunity to support these positions and to gain an understanding of the PWL investment.
