Objectives and outcomes
The objectives of this workshop are to strengthen the capacity of member States to implement the recently endorsed Principles and Recommendations for Population and Housing Censuses (Revision 4) and enhance overall preparedness for census-taking according to the endorsed international statistical standards.
The training workshop is expected to:
Improve participants’ understanding of concepts and methodologies in the production of population and housing statistics, with some emphasis on the use of administrative data
Strengthen participants’ capacity to implement the revised recommendations
Facilitate South-South cooperation and sharing experiences between countries
Identify gaps and challenges in census-taking that need to be addressed and facilitate discussions around solutions to support the production of population and housing data.
Identify possible areas of technical support opportunities and partnerships with international and regional agencies.
