About Denis

Denis Grofils is an adviser in statistical process modernisation for the Statistics for Development Division. He has been leading the implementation of an SDMX-powered .stat statistical database as part of the Pacific Data Hub initiative since 2020. With a background in business administration and computer science, and field-level expertise in statistics and audit, Denis has been supporting national and international organisations in optimising their information production processes for more than 15 years. His professional interests include information standardisation and metadata-driven approaches, with a strong focus on efficiency gains in agencies supporting data-driven policymaking.

How I support stakeholders

  • Developing national projects enhancing statistical processes and leveraging the latest advancements in statistical standards and practices
  • Supporting the development of modernisation strategies and the establishment of transformation programmes enhancing statistical processes and IT systems
  • Providing training, workshops, expert guidance and technical assistance to support the implementation of statistical standards (including SDMX and GSBPM) and the effective integration of advanced techniques and technologies in statistical production architectures
  • Establishing strong collaborations with stakeholders of the Pacific statistics system around statistical modernisation
  • Engaging actively in global standardisation efforts, representing SPC and the region.
