Overview of webinar: The increased frequency and severity of disasters continues to adversely impact the well-being of people across countries, including through ever-increasing economic losses. High quality and timely statistics are needed to better inform policy makers, disaster response managers and the public at large to better prepare for and respond to disasters.

'Forum Leaders mandated a strengthening of the regional institutional framework for ocean governance and policy coordination by establishing a Pacific Ocean Commissioner to provide the necessary high-level representation and commitment – to ensure dedicated advocacy and attention to ocean priorities, decisions and processes at national, regional and international levels.

The meeting will cover:

​Webinars on COVID-19 impact on civil registration and vital statistics are organized in order to address (a) international standards for civil registration and vital statistics and their implementation in countries/areas; (b) impact on the operations and maintenance of civil registration and production of vital statistics in the time of COVID-19 pandemic; (c) short- and long-term consequences
