Births and deaths
Birth and death numbers, usually reported annually, tell us how many babies were born and how many people died in a population in the reference period. This data may come from different sources, including census and survey collections, civil registration or health information systems.
Key Chart
The crude birth rate is the number of live births occurring in the population during a given year, per 1,000 mid-year total population during the same year.
