Background 

The 2021 Nauru Census provides essential information for development planning, policy formulation and the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. As stated by Ramrakha Detenamo, Acting Government Statistician of Nauru: “The most important driver behind the success of this census is to ensure any person in a position of care about someone or some people makes informed decisions for the common good of the people.” 

The Census data includes changes in population size, growth, distribution and geographic location. The census also provides data related to Nauru’s population and housing that can be disaggregated by small geographical areas, population groups as well as by demographic and social characteristics such as sex, age, education, migration, labour force, and disabilities.
