Overview of webinar: The increased frequency and severity of disasters continues to adversely impact the well-being of people across countries, including through ever-increasing economic losses. High quality and timely statistics are needed to better inform policy makers, disaster response managers and the public at large to better prepare for and respond to disasters. The focus of this webinar is on measuring economic losses due to disasters. there will be discussion on several topics including:
- the relevance of economic losses from disasters
- methodological considerations when calculating losses
- applications of such data.

e-Learning Course on Disaster related statistics framework
This online course aims to build national capacities for the compilation of disaster related statistics for enhancing disaster management and promote the risk-informed sustainable development in the countries. The course also aims to facilitate national monitoring and reporting on the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It introduces concepts relevant to compiling disaster related statistics.
