COVID19 and PDH data integration and visualisation

Update from Saturday, January 30, 2021

A collaboration between the Pacific Community Public Health Division (PHD) and the Statistics for Development Division (SDD) has enabled the very popular COVID-19: Pacific Community Updatesweb page to be “modernised” and provide better visualisation of, and access to, the underlying COVID19 cases and death data.

All COVID-19 data is collected and compiled daily by PHD, and now feed the COVID-19 cases in Pacific Island Countries and Territories dataset. SDD developed some plugins and tools to synchronize PDH.stat dataset with visualisations displayed on the PHD website, including:

1) Regional map
Recent cases (14, 28 and 42 days) in the Pacific

Covid-19 Pacific map: recent cases

2) Data table
Recent case, cumulated cases and deaths per country

Covid-19 Data table: cases and deaths

3) Time series charts
Cumulated number of cases and deaths over time since March 2020

Covid-19 Charts: cumulated cases and deaths

PDH.stat is a re-branded version of “.Stat Suite”, the SDMX-based statistical indicator platform built by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) through the Statistical Information System Collaboration Community. This platform replaces, and expands on the very popular, yet outdated National Minimum Development Indicator (NMDI) database which was established to report on Pacific development indicators including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
